Spring Leauge in Limerick a Possability

News has filtered back on the Limerick Tag Rugby grapevine that if the response is good that the ITRA may run a spring league in Limerick for the first time. We think this would be a great idea and the wanabees will be entering a team if the league kicks off in March/April The following is the official line on this possible league....

"We have received a few enquiries from tag players wondering why there is no Spring League planned for Limerick in 2007.

Over the past few years, we researched the area and found that there is not enough demand in Limerick for a Spring League - many players are playing other sports on Sundays and are not available to play tag from March to May. Also some tag match days clash with the closing stages of the Heineken Cup, and with Munster usually involved, we expected a low turnout for tag game on the Sundays.

But if there is sufficient demand, it is something we may look at doing in 2007 - a Limerick Spring League. So if your TEAM is interested (its team numbers we are looking for - not individual players) in playing on Sunday afternoons for 6 weeks (click here for dates), please let me know as soon as possible. If we have enough demand, a Limerick Spring League may be something we go ahead with".

Pig and Porter Blitz

The Wanabees entered a scratch team for the Pig and Porter festival blitz in Old Cresent on Saturday July 14th 2006.

The team finished 2nd in their qualifying pool and got to the 1/4 finals where they lost to the eventual winners MP Dragons who won their 3rd social C Pig'n Porter Title in a Row.

The Wanabees Tag Rugby Team was formed in 2006. The Wanabees played together for the first time in the ITRA Summer 2006 league in Limerick.
